MGTO participated in the Chinese New Year Night Parade in Hong Kong

To celebrate the joyful Year of the Dragon, Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) presented the “Touching Moments Experience Macau” float at the “2012 Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Night Parade”, which was organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board in the evening of the first day of Chinese New Year (23 January).

Decorated with the floral emblem of Macau- lotus, the themed float featured festive gift boxes that open to create surprises to the audience. Inside the gift boxes were famous establishments of Macau, such as the Ruins of St. Paul’s, A-Ma Temple and Guia Lighthouse. Together with the dazzling fireworks and dynamic model of the racing track and racing car, the design highlighted Macau’s blended culture of the East and the West and the combination of traditional and contemporary features. Scrolls of photo light-boxes surrounding the float also showcased the “Enchanting”, “Fascinating”, “Surprising” and “Tasteful” moments of Macau.

To exhibit the dynamics and vibrancy of Macau, a performance group joined the Chinese New Year Night Parade for the first time. Dancers dressed in lotus-like costumes danced under the theme song of MGTO “Touching Moments Experience Macau”, to echo the major feature of the float – lotus.

The number of visitor arrivals to Macau in 2011 reached 28 million, representing an increase of 12.2% over 2010. Hong Kong constituted the second largest visitor generating market of Macau. Over 7.5 million Hong Kong visitors traveled to Macau last year.
