Leader of Sinopec

Fu Chengyu, Chairman of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), Secretary of the Party Committee of China Petrochemical Corporation. Born in 1951. He graduated from the Northeast Petroleum Institute and received a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Southern California. 

Since 1983, Mr. Fu had worked as Chairman of the Management Committees of joint ventures between China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and international oil majors of Amoco, Chevron, Texaco, Phillips, Shell and Agip. In 1994, he was named Deputy General Manager of CNOOC Nanhai East Corporation and in December 1995, he became Vice President of Phillips Asia Inc. and General Manager of the Xijiang Development Project. In April 1999, he was named General Manager of CNOOC Nanhai East Corporation and five months later, he became Executive Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of CNOOC Limited, a subsidiary of CNOOC. In October 2000, Mr. Fu was named Vice President of CNOOC and was appointed concurrent President of CNOOC Limited in December 2000. In August 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL), a subsidiary of CNOOC. Mr. Fu became President of CNOOC, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CNOOC Limited in October 2003. On 16 September 2010, he resigned from the post of Chief Executive Officer of CNOOC Limited and remained its Chairman. Mr. Fu became Chairman of Sinopec Group in April 2011.
