FAW-VW announced that the six millionth car had rolled off the production line at Changchun facility on Jun 28.
FAW Group’s vice president Qin Huanming participated in and addressed celebration ceremony. “FAW-VW has successfully accomplished FAW’s market-oriented strategy, stepped to a new rapid development stage, and no doubt the Company will make more and more contribution for China’s automotive industry development,” said he.
FAW-VW’s general manager An Tiecheng also made a speech at ceremony. He said that making six million cars was a very good beginning for the JV. He was full of confidence to further improve management and product quality, and believed the company could be more profitable in 2012.
FAW-VW took 12 years to produce one million cars from the first Jetta car made. But from the five million cars to the six million cars produced FAW-VW took only 10 months, which indicated that the company had made a remarkable achievement on the business operation.
FAW-Volkswagen, a joint venture between FAW Group and Volkswagen AG, produces a wide range of premium passenger and commercial vehicles. Current products include the Volkswagen Bora, Caddy MPV, Golf, Jetta, Magotan, and Sagitar; and Audi A4, A6L, A8L, Q7, and TT.

Fortune Global 500 released the annual ranking at its Chinese website on Jun 9. FAW Group ranked 165th due to the outstanding achievement of annual revenue of $57.003 billion and profit of $2.297 billion. The ranking of FAW moved up 32 places from 197th in 2011. The Fortune Global 500 is a ranking of the top 500 corporations worldwide based on annual revenue.
