Cross-strait investment protection and promotion

Head of Association for Relations across the Taiwan Straits and head of Straits Exchange Foundation signed in Taipei on August 9 the Cross-strait Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (hereinafter referred to as the “Investment Protection Agreement”). MOFCOM of mainland China spokesman Shen Danyang made a comment that the Investment Protection Agreement is the first follow-up agreement signed since the “Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement” (hereinafter referred to as the “Framework Agreement”) was implemented, which reflects the features of Mainland and Taiwan, and is an important institutional arrangements complying with the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. China and Canada completed Economic Complementarities Study

Following the June 2010 meeting between Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Chinese President Hu Jintao in Canada, officials from both countries jointly undertook a study to provide an analytical basis to evaluate potential bilateral economic complementarities in a selected range of sectors. Economic complementarities are defined as the interests and requirements of one country that can be matched with a capacity to supply in the other country. Continue reading

Breakfast key to growth of foreign fast food market in China

With the total amount of foreign fast food outlets in China set to break the 50,000 mark this year – up from 48,477 in 2011 and 36,037 in 2006 – and 44% of Chinese consumers saying that they plan to spend more on fast food in the coming year, the potential for the sector is clear. However it seems that there is further opportunity for operators wanting to tap into this lucrative market, as new research from Mintel reveals that Breakfast is still the under penetrated daypart for foreign fast food outlets. Indeed, only one in five (21%) urban Chinese consumers eat at fast food restaurants in the morning (4am-11am) – as opposed to 75% during lunchtime. Continue reading

Focus set for cracking down on IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods in 3rd quarter in China

China Leading group of fight against IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods printed and distributed, in recent days, National Work Plan of Cracking down on IPR Infringement and Counterfeit and Shoddy Goods in 3rd quarter of 2012.

Focus of the planning in 3rd quarter this year is to implement Guobanfa No.30-2012, further promoting specific rectification actions, improving enforcement, speeding up the building of legal and institutional systems and pattern of mass prevention and control to fight against IPR infringement and counterfeit and shoddy goods, so as to improve the transformation of development mode, economic restructuring and the national innovation system. Chen Jianhua, male, a Han People originated from Lufeng of Guangdong Province, was born in March 1956. He started to work in December 1972 and joined the Communist Party of China in June 1982. As a holder of on-the-job postgraduate degree at the Administrative Management Department of School of Government, SunYat-sen University, master degree of Management Science and certificate of engineer.
