China-CEEC trade and economic cooperation
On June 8, after the China-CEEC Ministerial Meeting on Promoting Trade and Economic Cooperation, Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and ministers or representatives from 16 CEE countries attended a press conference to introduce the achievements in the meeting and answered questions from the media. CEEC stands for Central and Eastern European Countries. Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs) is an OECD term for the group of countries comprising Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, and the three Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Standardizing and optimizing approval of foreign investment pilot
To carry out the essence of the Third Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee on deepening the reform of administrative examination and approval, and improve the management of foreign investment examination and approval, Chinese Ministry of Commerce released an announcement (No. 41, 2014) on May 28, 2014, deciding to conduct pilot work to standardize and optimize the examination and approval of foreign investment for three months from the date of release to August 31, 2014. The establishment and alteration of foreign-invested enterprises approved by Ministry of Commerce except direct selling are covered in the pilot. Continue reading

Loan assistance in place for Taiwanese companies in Vietnam
The Taiwanese government is leaving no stone unturned in negotiations with the Vietnamese authorities to protect the rights and interests of Taiwanese businesses there, Vice Premier Mao Chi-kuo, the convener of Taiwanese Executive Yuan’s Vietnam riot response task force, said today at the task force’s eighth meeting. Taoyuan airport receives thumbs-up for International Health Regulations
Taiwanese Minister without Portfolio Chiang Been-huang today inspected Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TTIA) for implementation of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Health Regulations (IHR) and commended the airport for excellent performance that garnered outstanding reviews by international experts. New marine national park in Penghu to nurture sustainability
Four islands and islets of southern Penghu and their surrounding waters will be designated as a future national park, which will be Taiwan’s ninth and its second marine national park. This designation will help safeguard the four islands and islets’ special basalt geology, rich and diverse marine ecology, and unique cultural communities while facilitating the sustainable use of natural resources. The classic economic resources include land, labor and capital. Economic resources are the goods or services available to individuals and businesses used for production. These economic resources are also called the factors of production.
What constitutes the fourth factor is s bit tricky. Many economists identify a fourth factor of production: entrepreneurship. More recently, technology is also proposed to be a fourth factor by many. The number of production factors is never limited to four. It is fair to say we can have five factors of production. Continue reading
