G20 Hangzhou Summit
On September 4, 2016, the 11th G20 Summit was held at the Hangzhou International Expo Center. Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the summit and delivered an opening speech. Xi Jinping stressed that faced with current challenges, the G20 must keep up with the changing times, fully honor its commitment, make joint efforts and deliver benefits to all as well as stick together as partners in meeting challenges in order to bring the global economy onto the track of prosperity and stability, and achieve robust, sustainable, balanced and inclusive growth. G20 Leaders’ Communique Hangzhou Summit

1. We, the Leaders of the G20, met in Hangzhou, China on 4-5 September 2016.
2. We met at a time when the global economic recovery is progressing, resilience is improved in some economies and new sources for growth are emerging. But growth is still weaker than desirable. Downside risks remain due to potential volatility in the financial markets, fluctuations of commodity prices, sluggish trade and investment, and slow productivity and employment growth in some countries. Challenges originating from geopolitical developments, increased refugee flows as well as terrorism and conflicts also complicate the global economic outlook. Continue reading

An open China: Read Sichuan, Feel the World
On September 28, 2016, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) held the 4th event presenting Chinese provinces at the Blue Hall of the Ministry with the theme of “An open China: Read Sichuan, Feel the World”. Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a speech. Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China Wang Dongming made remarks and Governor of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province Yin Li gave the presentation. Nearly 600 people including diplomatic envoys and representatives in China from over 140 countries and global organizations, business and industrial representatives, Chinese and foreign experts and scholars, and journalists were present at the event.
