Even we need to cope with Brexit
Cheming Yang
This year is set to be the starting point of EU and UK parting their ways. Brexit is going to work like a divorce for both parties in the sense that it will not be pretty. However, how much this divorce will affect their slightly far removed neighbors in the global village, like us, remains to be seen. Continue reading

Prospect of 2017
Cheming Yang
If you might recall that my conclusion for 2016 is that the monkey year was on soft landing and stagnant economically at best. Then what is expect of the 2017? 2017 is rooster on Chinese zodiac. Rooster is supposed to be diligent in that it has to rise early to set up the tone for the whole day. The downside is that rooster cannot fly. I am not trying to sound like an astrologist. The Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) epidemic in South Korea last year is an economic disaster for real. Continue reading

Milton Friedman is the most well known champion of the no answer. Friedman was an American economist who received the 1976 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. Friedman takes a shareholder approach to corporate social responsibility. This approach maintains the goal of the firm is to maximize profits and reward its shareholders for the risk they took in investing in the firm. The shareholders can then decide for themselves what social initiatives to take part in. Continue reading

Multilaterals should mean actions more than words
Cheming Yang
With the conclusion of G20 Hangzhou Summit, China has successfully completed its mission as the 2016 host. In addition to G20, China had also in recent years hosted the APEC Summit. With all the forums held around the world and throughout the year, ordinary people definitely have difficulty understandings what they means and what impact they will have on their daily lives.
